Is boating experience necessary?
No boating experience is necessary to book with us. You’ll be in good hands with a qualified local captain who will handle the details while you enjoy your time on the water.
Our loading dock provides safe passenger access; however, please note that we use a floating dock with a ramp leading down from the boardwalk and pier. During very low tides, the ramp can become steeper. If anyone in your group has mobility concerns or questions about accessibility, please let us know in advance so we can help ensure everyone is prepared.
Where do I park?
Free parking is available at Shem Creek Park. As you enter the lot from Shrimp Boat Lane, park immediately on the right and follow the boardwalk along the creek toward the second gazebo. Your boat will be waiting at the dock below that gazebo.
Shem Creek Park is approximately 20 minutes from downtown Charleston and 10–15 minutes from Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island.
Can I bring food and drinks?
Yes! You’re welcome to bring your own food, drinks, and cooler. Since the walk from the parking area to the dock is approximately 5–7 minutes, wheeled coolers are recommended.
Open container restrictions do not apply while you are onboard and underway on your private charter. Alcohol is BYOB, and guests are responsible for drinking responsibly and maintaining respectful behavior. However, In Mount Pleasant, SC, open containers of alcohol are prohibited in public areas. At Shem Creek Park—including the boardwalk and pier plaza—possessing or consuming alcohol in an open container is not allowed, except during approved situations such as authorized special events, permitted private rentals, or when alcohol is purchased and consumed immediately in designated areas.
If a group becomes unsafe, disruptive, or unmanageable, the captain reserves the right to end the charter early. Our goal is for everyone to enjoy the experience while respecting the boat, captain, fellow guests, and Charleston’s waterways.
Can we decorate?
Yes! You’re welcome to decorate the boat to make your occasion special. Simple decorations that are easy to remove and clean up are allowed.
We do not permit glitter, confetti, flower petals, or any decorations that could create pollution, environmental hazards, or cleanup issues if they enter the water.
What’s the restroom situation?
There is no restroom onboard the boat. Air-conditioned public restrooms are available near the parking area at the beginning of the boardwalk, to the right as you walk toward the dock.
Once underway, restroom facilities are limited, so we recommend planning accordingly before departure.

Are kids and small children allowed?
Yes, guests of all ages are welcome. Adult and juvenile life jackets will be available onboard; however, the boat does not carry specialized safety equipment for infants or very young children.
If you plan to bring small children, please let us know in advance so we can help ensure all necessary safety measures are in place.
Does the boat have speakers and a sound system?
Is smoking or vaping allowed?
Will we have the boat to ourselves?

- *The boat does not feature a “head” so keep in mind that there’s a bucket on board for restroom emergencies, or for those who’d rather not “swim it out.” We do our best to keep it classy out there, but just remember to plan ahead!

All charters and tours depart from and return to the day dock at Shem Creek Park, located at Shrimp Boat Lane, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
Shem Creek is one of the liveliest waterfront destinations in the Charleston area. Home to Charleston’s commercial fishing and shrimping fleet, the creek remains one of the region’s most vibrant and authentic waterways.
There’s no better place to begin your adventure. Departing alongside working shrimp boats offers a firsthand glimpse into Charleston’s rich maritime heritage and the important role the water continues to play in the local community. It’s also the perfect place to end your trip, with a variety of excellent restaurants and bars just a short walk away along the scenic boardwalk.
Arriving at Shem Creek Park
Shem Creek Park is a public park, so please be respectful of the space and other visitors enjoying the marsh walk and docks.
The park offers:
- Free parking
- Air-conditioned public restrooms located near the entrance to the Marsh Walk and boardwalk
- When you arrive, park in the spaces immediately to your right. From there, walk along the boardwalk toward the creek until you reach the second gazebo.
- Your captain and boat will be waiting at the floating dock directly below the second gazebo.

The boardwalk extends several hundred yards through the marsh to a fishing pier and floating dock on Shem Creek, where your charter will depart.

Cancellation Policy
Being that we operate on the water, we keep a constant eye on the weather and are flexible with weather related rescheduling, and cancellation if absolutely necessary.
However, once we get into the heat of summer here in Charleston, afternoon showers and the norm, and we will operate around them as best we can without altering scheduled tours. We will keep an open line of communication with all clients to discuss forecasts and options.
Fees will be applied to non-weather related cancellations recieved after the 48hr cutoff.
