About JB
Captain JB spent years working offshore on a variety of industrial maritime projects and operations, and he’s excited to bring that experience back to his hometown as a captain for The Collective. With an extensive knowledge of the local waterways, he specializes in ecotours and enjoys sharing the stories, history, and impact of Charleston’s maritime industry.
A day on the water with JB is sure to be a fun and memorable experience. He’ll take you to some of the best spots along Charleston’s scenic coastline while sharing his passion for the area—and perhaps a few stories from his years at sea along the way.

All charters and tours depart from and return to the day dock at Shem Creek Park, located at Shrimp Boat Lane, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
Shem Creek is one of the liveliest waterfront destinations in the Charleston area. Home to Charleston’s commercial fishing and shrimping fleet, the creek remains one of the region’s most vibrant and authentic waterways.
There’s no better place to begin your adventure. Departing alongside working shrimp boats offers a firsthand glimpse into Charleston’s rich maritime heritage and the important role the water continues to play in the local community. It’s also the perfect place to end your trip, with a variety of excellent restaurants and bars just a short walk away along the scenic boardwalk.
Arriving at Shem Creek Park
Shem Creek Park is a public park, so please be respectful of the space and other visitors enjoying the marsh walk and docks.
The park offers:
- Free parking
- Air-conditioned public restrooms located near the entrance to the Marsh Walk and boardwalk
- When you arrive, park in the spaces immediately to your right. From there, walk along the boardwalk toward the creek until you reach the second gazebo.
- Your captain and boat will be waiting at the floating dock directly below the second gazebo.
Getting Here
- Approximately 20 minutes from downtown Charleston
- Approximately 10–15 minutes from Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island
The boardwalk extends several hundred yards through the marsh to a fishing pier and floating dock on Shem Creek, where your charter will depart.
We pride ourselves on providing clear communication throughout your experience. If you have any questions before your trip or need assistance finding the boat or loading passengers, don’t hesitate to contact us—we’re happy to help.
Cancellation Policy
Being that we operate on the water, we keep a constant eye on the weather and are flexible with weather related rescheduling, and cancellation if absolutely necessary.
However, once we get into the heat of summer here in Charleston, afternoon showers and the norm, and we will operate around them as best we can without altering scheduled tours. We will keep an open line of communication with all clients to discuss forecasts and options.
Fees will be applied to non-weather related cancellations recieved after the 48hr cutoff.

- We’ve got floats that can be set up for everyone if your group decides to get in the water
- *The boat does not feature a “head” so keep in mind that there’s a bucket on board for restroom emergencies, or for those who’d rather not “swim it out.” We do our best to keep it classy out there, but just remember to plan ahead!
